Hello Parents and Players,
Welcome to team 7K! I am Coach Mike McInerney (you can call me coach Mike) and I’m looking forward to being your coach this season. We thank everyone for their patience as NYSL has had many new and returning players register this session so it took a bit longer than normal to get the teams finalized. But here we are! I’m happy to answer any questions you may have, and if I don’t know the answer I’ll find it for you. But first let me share some information about myself and some important information about the season.
I’m coach Mike and this will be my second time coaching soccer. I love playing and watching all sports. My son Caleb will be on our team, and I have a daughter who also loves soccer and is playing in U10. I work for Eversource and I am a lineman… which brings me to my next bit of information- I will not be able to be there for our first 2 practices/games because I am currently down in Louisiana helping to restore power after hurricane Ida. But don’t worry- we are very lucky to have our other coach, Coach Karla who will be there to help along with another assistant.
**We can never have too much help. Especially these next few weeks it would be great if another adult could step up and help out during games/practices. No experience necessary!**
For the U7 division games and practices are a combined 1hour and 15 minutes. We will be playing each Saturday morning at Greely Park on Field 6.
Start time is 8:00.
Our first game is this Saturday, September 11
Practices will begin with warm-ups, then move to instruction, drills and practice for 30 mins. The last 30 mins will be inter-team scrimmage play and we will finish
each session with a cool-down/homework.
Field Map and Directions:
*Jerseys and Socks-
UNIFORM PICKUP: If you are new to NYSL or if you have ordered a new jersey they will be available for pick up either tomorrow night (Thursday 9/9) from
5-7 at Main Dunstable School Field 5 OR Friday 9/10 from 5-7 at Charlotte Ave Elementary School. If you are unable to make these times they will be
distributed at our first game.
*Shin Guards- Shin guards are required for play.
* Cleats- Cleats are not required by NYSL but they are a bit safer. Especially playing at 8am, cleats will help prevent sliding on the wet grass.
**Please bring a filled water bottle**
There are currently no statewide or NYSL imposed mask mandates. However, if there is an exposure and your child was at practice or a game after that exposure,
the teams that were on the field with that child will be required to not practice or play any games for 10 days. The impacts of this can be very far reaching so please
I am looking forward to meeting you and playing some great soccer together!
