Registration information

Referees with a U.S. Soccer referee patch must register as an NYSL referee in order to get game assignments.

• NYSL referee registration for the Spring 2023 season is Open (use Register Online link on homepage) 
• Referees need a valid 2023 patch to participate as an NYSL referee. 

If you have a 2022 U.S. Soccer Federation referee patch, your patch expired at the end of the year and you will have had to attend an NH Soccer training class to get your 2023 patch. New referees certified toward the end of 2022 may have already been certified for 2023.

• Go to the NH soccer webpage to access the US Soccer Learning app to see when  2023 recertification training classes are available.

New Referees

You must be at least 13 years old to become a referee.   The steps you need to follow are:

• Pass the New Grassroots Referee class.  You will get your patch at the end of the class if you pass the requirements.   For the current list of classes for new referees, click here. Most of these courses have an on-line portion followed by an in-person class and a separate Field session scheduled later.
• Once you have passed the class you can register as an NYSL referee using the link above in the registration information section. Since there sometimes is a delay getting the actual badge we just need yto see our name on the NH approved referee list supplied by NH Soccer.

Reporting 

• Game scores are reported by coaches in NYSL.  
• A referee only needs to fill out a USSF game report if reporting an injury or awarding a player or coach a  yellow or red  card. 
• Coordinate the preparation of a USSF report with the Head Referee/Assigner since this report needs to be sent to NH Referee State Referee Administrator (SRA).
